Position Description and Duties
GENERAL DUTIES
Provides information and services to the College community to support the Human Resources function.
- Prepares and executes various personnel transactions involving employee recordkeeping, processing of new hires, pay administration, and recruiting
- Maintains an understanding of policies, procedures, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements relevant to human resources
- Organizes and processes employee information; develops and maintains reports and queries; assures data accuracy and completeness
- Responds to requests for information; troubleshoots issues, follows up and responds to employee inquiries
- Assists HR managers with employee communications of all kinds; may prepare materials, conduct orientation sessions, or update web pages
- Performs related duties as assigned.
CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
In addition to the above duties, the position will coordinate day-to-day functions of the Office of On-Campus Student Employment (OCSE). This position will assist in further developing the one-year old OCSE Center which matches current CCNY students with employment located on campus.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Implements and monitors procedures for the recently created OSCE. Consults with departmental managers regarding job descriptions, processes/procedures, and related student employment practices. Maintains a web site for campus employment services. Creates a job posting process for CCNY and ensures procedures are followed consistently and uniformly.
- Oversees and is responsible for reports, office communications and marketing materials.
- Recommends and coordinates new procedures for administering student employment records, taking documents and processes currently in different support areas across CCNY and incorporating them into one OCSE location, including employment applications, I-9 verification forms, tax forms, timesheets, etc. Supervises data entry and filing.
- Facilitates training sessions for the campus student employment liaisons on student employment issues such as interviewing, hiring, training, performance management, and disciplinary problems. Plans and conducts annual (or as needed) orientation workshops on practices, policies, and procedures.
- Serves as a liaison with the Career Center Department of the Student Affairs’ Division, to ensure employment opportunities are marketed to current CCNY students. Attends career fairs and initiates outreach activities to achieve hiring objectives.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified applications must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and exemplary customer service skills. Qualified candidates must have knowledge and skills in using Microsoft Word and Excel (or equivalent). Qualified applicants must have the skills and abilities to work independently in fast-paced work settings and be detail-focused. Candidates with experience working within human resources for large, unionized organizations are preferred. Candidates with experience working with employees and students within a large university or college are preferred.
